The Martial Club

Muay Thai / Kickboxing

In our Muay Thai/Kickboxing class, you will learn how to fight with your fists, elbows, knees, and shins while getting in the best shape of your life. You will learn to utilize the clinch, as well as the typical Muay Thai sweeps and throws. We will also emphasize techniques that are more commonly found in Dutch-Style, K-1, or American Kickboxing to provide a well-rounded striking class consistent with the instructor’s experience. Occasional explorations into Lethwei (Burmese Boxing) techniques, western boxing, and shoot boxing will also be made to derive the most practical value from our striking class.

Muay Thai / Kickboxing

Enhances Strength and Fitness

Are you ready to be in the best shape of your life? Well, Muay Thai is the martial art for you. Muay Thai is an intense form of physical training that boosts cardiovascular health through both aerobic and anaerobic exercises. As a result, you’ll quickly improve your endurance and build immense muscular strength throughout your entire body. Additionally, Muay Thai is known to help its practitioners shed fat and lose weight. After just an hour of Muay Thai training, you’ll have utilized pretty much every part of your body and burned about 500-700 calories.

In The Martial Club’s Muay Thai class, students practice a variety of exercises – such as jumping rope, shadowboxing, sprinting, sit-ups, technique sequences, sparring, and stretching. You will begin to experience improvements in your stamina, strength, and power after only a few classes!

Mental Strength

When we’re talking about fitness, strength, and self-defense, we can’t forget to talk about mental sharpness. And lucky for you, Muay Thai is just as good for the brain as it is for the body! Muay Thai places a unique emphasis on meditation and focus, pushing students to be aware of their surroundings and teaching them to concentrate on the most important aspects of an altercation even in a heated or stressful moment.

Teaches Self-Defense

Though there are many sports and martial arts that teach self-defense skills, Muay Thai provides benefits that other athletic disciplines can’t brag about. Muay Thai is a full-contact sport that taps into every part of the body while fighting. (Hey, it’s not called “the art of eight limbs” for nothing!) Muay Thai teaches its practitioners how to strike with immense power, fight from the perfect distance, carefully use footwork to their advantage, and rely on instincts in high-pressure situations of anxiety.

Muay Thai provides students with the tools needed to defend themselves from an attacker with a swift punch or a powerful kick. Not to mention, Muay Thai emphasizes awareness, mental sharpness, overall body strength, muscle memory, and the proper timing of a kick or strike. Furthermore, Muay Thai imparts important techniques and helps individuals react quickly and effectively.

Elevates Confidence

We have seen our Muay Thai training transform the lives of hundreds of students – both on and off the mat. This martial art discipline teaches potentially life-saving self-defense skills, urges students to face challenges, and provides a newfound sense of physical prowess. The result? A confidence that empowers athletes in all aspects of their lives.

Relieves Stress

If you’ve never practiced Muay Thai before, the idea of taking your first class may induce stress, not relieve it! Well, we’re here to alleviate your fears. Not only is the Muay Thai community incredibly welcoming, but this martial art is known for its anxiety-reducing abilities. With each strike, kick, and drop of sweat, you are letting go of worry and stress. As you place all of your focus on the training session or match at hand, you will boost your body’s endorphins, release frustrations, and experience an amazing sense of accomplishment.

Endurance

No matter what martial art you’re practicing, endurance is a necessity. Here at The Martial Club, we understand that to win a match, you need a high level of skill AND conditioning. Regularly training in kickboxing provides you with a level of cardio that is sure to protect you from losing strength during a match and not being able to execute those techniques you’ve spent countless hours mastering. Our kickboxing classes will keep you on your toes – covering a wide variety of exercises such as interval training, jump roping, core strength drills, and both aerobic and anaerobic conditioning.
